Even though it’s less than a year old, the Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss is receiving some updates for the 2016 model year, and from our eyes these changes make it look more and more like the ZR2 concept that we really want to see. Heck, you’ll be able to even get a diesel option!
Before, the Trail Boss just bundled some features together that you probably already wanted to begin with. For 2016, you get a new sport bar that includes several LED spotlights built in. In addition, you get the usual off-road tires from the previous Trail Boss and a factory spray-in bedliner. Combined with the black bowties and the tubular sidesteps, it’s a pretty slick looking truck.
Additionally, you’ll be able to get the 2016 Trail Boss with the 2.8L Duratec diesel, which basically makes it a mini ZR2 without all the extra off-road hardware. Pricing is currently not available, but expect to pay a similar premium as the 2015 model.
The Z71 Trail Boss will be available in either extended or crew cabs, with two or four-wheel drive. All engine options will be available.
Now, just go whole-hog and make the ZR2!
