2019 Chevy Bolt range on 100% charge. 92 mile round trip to work. Top speed about 72 and average 43.9 MPH. $27,500 for this vs a Tesla for $65k. I’m happy!

  1. I recently bought a 2011 I-Miev and we use it for 99% of our daily driving, for about 5k USD.

It’s also a bit of an experiment how well an old electric car actually ages.

It’s ridiculously small and looks ridiculous, but that’s part of its charm.

  2. Looks like Chevy has some solid EV’s coming out in the next 2 years that are priced about the same as the gas version. Or about 30% less then other EV’s for sale right now.

  3. That’s great that the Bolt works for you. It’s certainly the better financial decision. I just couldn’t get past its looks. Does it have any driver assistance features like autopilot?

  4. Why the Tesla shade? The Bolt is cool. I think its a great entry level EV. The base Model 3 is $46k, which is still expensive, but not nearly how you are making it out to be. Its also faster, handles better, has a larger rear passenger space, fast charges much, much quicker, and is RWD vs. FWD.

They are both good EVs but not competitors in the same class.

  5. I mean you can’t really compare these cars. The Tesla is on a whole different level performance wise.

It would be like saying you’re happy with your Malibu because it’s much cheaper than a Camero.

The bolts seem like nice cars though and I’ll never give a penny to Tesla because I can’t get with how they treat their employees.

Ordering a Mach E as a nice middle ground.

  6. A lot of people can live with the Chevy Bolt. Majority of people don’t have a 150+ mile commute so they can live with the Bolt. Only downside is long trips, but let’s be honest how many people actually goes on a multi state road trip multiple times a year. If it’s once or twice people can still live with the Bolt.

  7. Haha I mean some lots may not even let you park but any EV is better than no EV. Really though, my Tesla was 53k w/ tax before my 3750 credit and it’s got all the bells and whistles just the 240 range battery. Couldn’t be happier with the car. Autopilot is a huge sell especially if you’re commuting. I’m not sure how the fast charging infrastructure is for a bolt but that was another reason Tesla made a ton of sense. Either way congrats on the car I hope you love it and it’s perfect for you

  8. Was so optimistic for the Bolt and so underwhelmed when I saw how small it is. I owned a 2016 Malibu hybrid with the Voltec engine and a 2kWh battery. Wanted a GM product like the bolt but it is just too small.

  9. Nice!!! I would’ve loved to get a Chevy bolt but the Tesla infrastructure is what I’m paying for! The Kia EV6’s also look real nice! I hope infrastructure gets better all around so I can have more options than Tesla in the future!

  10. Congrats on the Chevy Bolt, I hope it gives you many dependable miles. I’ve never been a fan of Tesla, not because of Elon Musk or anything, I just think they are ugly and not very well made from all the articles/videos. It’s incredible to me that a company that specializes in EV’s as long as they have, still have vehicles that leak, squeak, rattle, misaligned body pieces, paint problems, etc. Sure they offer all kinds of tech features but I’d rather have an EV that doesn’t have those issues and less useless tech, just my opinion though.
