  1. We need more LFP production that isn’t based in China. Whoever can make the most energy dense battery can dominate the luxury car market. Whoever can make the cheapest battery that’s good enough can dominate the other 95% of the energy economy.

  2. My understanding is that this has been in the plans but they are just accelerating now to try to be eligible for tax credits.
    Whatever the motivation is, building more manufacturing in the USA is good for the economy. And will create jobs. Hopefully automakers can transition workers from ice powertrain plants over to battery and other EV manufacturing facilities

  3. Any domestic investment in supply is a win for everyone. Lower environmental impact and cost of shipping, less reliance on over-border relations, domestic work force demand and training of new American work force in a relevant skillset. If those were the only pros, they would be enough IMO.
