  1. They NEED TO do something about getting more L2 chargers in apartments and other rental properties.

The vast majority of charging needs to be done at home because it is cheap, it is convenient, it is easier on the car batteries, and it is easier on the grid.

And such chargers can participate in demand-response programs.

  2. The real heavy lifting needs to be done by local governments. Lots of cars parked in apartment building and condos which can’t access charging. We need “right to charge” laws that prohibit landlords and HOA’s from blocking the installation of chargers.

  3. Doesn’t matter if it’s not maintained. Ev charging stations should also allocate cost to local maintenance crews. Would love a lot full of EV charging and a person running it / cleaning it etc.

I also seen so many charging single unit stations put on random busy streets and it’s nearly impossible to charge. Either blocked or broken and some random company I have to put funds in. Feels more symbolic than helpful.

edit: I don’t use public charging stations often anymore and I don’t view them as an option for me based on my experiences. My wife does use them at a parking garage (technically not public since it’s for work) which is the safest since we’ve been keyed at public charging stations, and is generally maintained with EV charging station rules respected… But you see that’s the problem. It’s not a public charging station, it’s maintained by the people that own the parking garage.
