  1. I honestly don’t know, what you’re talking about.

I’ll take trams any day over buses. They’re so much more efficient and reliable at moving people around.

My city using buses instead of trams is the main reason, why I’m going everywhere by bike, instead of using public transport.

  2. I see a renaissance of trams in many places in the world. Personally, I would be happy to have trams in my own town. They are better than buses in efficiency capacity, and several other ways.

Here are two nice comments that I found at Reddit explaining advantages of trams:

  3. These are already electric. The fact that they have a wired linkage means they don’t need batteries (or very small one at most). Per passenger, I expect these to be dramatically more efficient than electric buses. Furthermore, they get to skip traffic and typically have fewer stops. I don’t even take buses when using public transport. I get as close as I can by train, and then walk, bike, or use a foldable e-scoooter to cover the remaining distance. Buses have too many stops, and are too susceptible to traffic to even be worth it…

I recognize that many people (elderly, disabled, etc.) cannot viably do this, but there are already mini-buses and vans set up on our public transport network that will stop directly in front of your house and drop you off directly in front of your destination upon request.

I’m very much the opposite. I’d love to see buses get deprecated and replaced by trains/trams/streetcars where viable, and custom-route buses replacing the standard routes for anyone still not appropriately covered.
