  1. Samsung want’s chargers to contain displays to improve customer experience and increase revenue for EV charging operators.

    As an EV user, I can see this being somewhat useful, but it could also mean that EV chargers just become another place for adverts.

  2. For everyone against seeing ads, think of it this way, how often do you stare at the screen of the charger, or even stand outside? I only look at it when I need to see charging information about speed or time. If they do put ads on the screens then this means that the vendor paying for the charger, can now re-coop the cost of the charger, or pay for support and has more encouragement to keep it up and running.

    Looking at the other side of the coin, how many stations are beat up and have damaged handles? how do you think this is going to hold up to the first homeless guy that throws a rock at it because it is too bright, or a kid hits it with the door when they open up to fast. The cost of keeping these working adds more technology to something that they already have issues keeping up and running. But as I said above, if this gives them the money and incentive to keep them running, maybe it won’t be that bad.
