  1. If I had that model year I would sell it now before to many people find out about this as preconditioning is helpful even when it’s 60F/15C to get max charging speed at low state of charge.

  2. That’s really stupid since it’s just software. At least it has departure preconditioning and heats up quickly on a DC charger. Not a huge issue but if they’re adding it to 23s not pushing the update to 22s is idiotic.

This does not give confidence for other software updates and still missing features like wireless AA and carplay.

  3. LOL.. you will get OTA updates, but OTA updates are segregated by model year, and you are only eligible for the features your model year is eligible for.

That’s not OTA updates, that’s just them not finishing the software before selling the car and trying to catch up.

  4. I don’t expect legacy automakers to follow tesla/Rivian with substantial, frequent, and continued OTAs.

If you want your car to stay up to date, you need to buy the next year’s model.

Tesla/Rivian’s mode isn’t in the best financial interest to legacy makers.

  5. this affects only people living in cold climates taking long road trips in the middle of winter. battery preconditioning is a nice feature, but i wouldn’t call it essential or a deal breaker on an otherwise excellent vehicle. especially one that already charges so fast. yes, it really should be included, i agree. but, it’s one model year, the first model year, and if you truly are someone who actually needs battery preconditioning, then trade up and get a 23 model.
