On Wednesday, August 12, the folks at Roadkill, in partnership with Dodge, held an event at the Pontiac Silverdome for the 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise. This event, a first of its kind, featured flashlight drag racing, a car show, thrill rides, tons of food trucks, and more. Events like this demonstrate how committed Dodge is to muscle car performance and the Dream Cruise.

All the manufacturers have an event of some kind at Woodward. Many run prototypes, one-off concepts, or preproduction vehicles during the event to build buzz. Some even rent out large areas to have massive vehicle displays.

For example, at 9th and Woodward, Ford hosts their display and Mustang Alley. Hundreds of Mustangs show up from around the country to show off to the Woodward crowd. Ford even brought out the new Ford GT to show off, along with other Ford Performance vehicles.

But for an overall event, Dodge at 13th and Woodward really pulls out the stops. They have live music, car shows, enthusiast rides, and more. Combine that with the Roadkill Nights event earlier in the week, and Dodge ends up the big winner.

Based on the turnout alone at the Pontiac Silverdome (greater than I expected, and perhaps even greater than Roadkill expected), people thirst for this type of experience. People want a safe place to drag race and show off. On top of that, some big names in the industry were there mingling with the crowds. Yes, as a member of the press I had some cool access, but I stumbled across Dodge’s CEO Tim Kuniskis just walking around enjoying the show.

As it turns out, the event was so popular that it’ll return for the 2016 Woodward Dream Cruise. I’m sure that makes many people happy. Check out the press release from the event and Dodge’s photos from the event. Be sure to check your schedules next year to see if you can make it, it’ll be a good show.
