  3. Cool! It is worth mentioning that is is a purpose built machine just to beat this record and not be practical in any other way so I’m not sure how impressed I should be. I mean I have an EV that can do 0-60 in ~0.6s and it can fly and only costs ~$300 (an fpv drone).

    It begs the questions what are the rules for this specific record and what novel tech went into this to make it happen? The article doesn’t mention either of those things! I’d guess they’re not using li-ion cells… maybe lipo?

    Also it makes the Model S Plaid seem that much more impressive being only 0.6s slower while also being a 2.5 ton luxury sedan!

  4. I mean, let’s be clear here, this thing is a purpose-built, electric go-kart on a prepared surface, pre-heated tires, and probably a few 9v batteries for power (j/k).

    Neat, but the 5000 lb, 5-seat, 300 mile range, Tesla Model S doing the same run in 2.5s is a little more impressive.
