Early today, we were Googling to see what information is available about the 2015 Mustang King Cobra unveiled at SEMA, and we were a bit surprised by one of the first Google search results. Ford has a page on their site titled “2015 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 | The Cobra of Performance Cars | Ford.com.” Now when you visit that site with the URL of http://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/trim/shelbygt500/ it presents you with a generic Mustang page, where the Shelby GT500 isn’t listed. But we find it interesting that a page exists at that URL with the 2015 model year listed. Here’s some more information from the page’s source code…
Source code from Ford.com’s page using the 2015 Mustang GT500 title.
It is believed that the next Shelby Mustang will carry at GT350 badge and be launched in just a couple of weeks during the Los Angeles International Auto Show. It is also believed that the 5.8L supercharged V8 has gone out of production and not available for the 2015 Mustang. All of that may be true; this could simply be a coding error. A script automatically updated the page with 2014 information. Or it could be accurate, serving as a placeholder until the announcement.
Here’s a link to the Google cached version if this page were to go offline. Is it nothing? Probably. But it’s still an interesting thought.
