  1. Fords is hand free and mapped highways only.

Tesla is not hands free and can be used many more places.

    The direct comparison is supercruise.

  2. “Tesla is not hands free and can be used many more places.”

This might be semantic but the Tesla highway self-driving mode (Navigate on Autopilot) is also hands-free in that requires no intervention on the part of the driver to automatically change lanes in order to pass slower vehicles and maintain the posted speed limit. The present version does have a “nag” to force the driver to keep their hands on the steering wheel. A Tesla user has recently posted that Tesla is testing the use of its interior camera to assess driver attentiveness. The implication is that the steering wheel nag will be discontinued.

The city street version of Full Self Driving is still in beta, although the production release version stops at controlled intersections, recognizes speed limit signs, has auto cruise control and auto steer. It neither proceeds on a green light nor will it make left or right turns automatically like the beta FSD version does.
