There looks like there’s a federal incentive on Residential charger installation. Up to 30% coverage.

Has anyone used it successfuly? Did you submit the form with your taxes? Have you gotten the rebate yet? Let me know your experience. This might be very helpful for everyone.

  1. Yep; I filed it with my 2019 taxes for an EVSE installed that year. It took a bit longer than normal to receive my refund that year, but it was also the year I applied for the EV tax credit, so I can’t say which held things up.

    EDIT: Just to clarify, it’s not a rebate. It’s a non-refundable tax credit just like the EV tax credit. So you need to owe some federal tax to take advantage.

  3. Yes, successful. No issues at all when filing my 2019 federal tax return.

    As others have pointed out, it is a non-refundable tax credit and not a “rebate”.
