    I believe these flags are in the code to tell the system to act as if it’s driving on a public road, when it’s actually on a testing facility course. They’re probably requested by the testing agencies to ensure the vehicles behave the same way they would on secondary or tertiary roads.

  2. This is all pointless considering tesla is constantly updating their software for safety, among other things. If it’s a software change…which the claim is, then cars are always changing after the tests anyway. No reason to make them less safe.
