Knowing that Buffett-backed BYD has outpaced Tesla in deliveries in China, but unaware that its e-trucks and e-buses are the market leaders in the US. Will US public agencies keep buying BYD EVs amid growing tensions with China?

  1. >Will US public agencies keep buying BYD EVs amid growing tensions with China?

    that’s not the headline.

did you read the article? the part where BYD makes busses in California?

    https://en.byd.com/news/byd-transit-bus-motorcoaches-eligible-for-california-2022-hvip-funding/

LOS ANGELES, Calif (2/17/2022) – BYD announced that buyers of its line of American-made battery-electric transit buses and motorcoaches are eligible for incentives through the California Air Resources Board (CARB) 2022 Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP).
Vehicles in the voucher program include BYD’s entire battery electric transit bus and motorcoach lines.

  2. > It sold over 640,000 new energy passenger cars, which include all-electric and plug-in hybrid models, in the first half, a 300% increase over the same period last year, surpassing Tesla’s 76,000 sales.

So disingenuous to compare BYD selling BEVAND hybrids to Tesla.

  3. Commercial vehicles have totally separate requirements, which is in IRA section 45W. If I recall, it’s $40k max credit, or 30% of the incremental cost for going electric. No limitations on North American/Free Trade assembly. I’m not sure if there is a limit against “countries of concern” (e.g. China)
