  1. It’s a pretty common startup playbook. Novelty company making high value novelty items, with the end goal being to get bought out for your tech.

    So far it does not make sense price wise, you can buy a Model S plaid AND an entire Tesla solar system complete with power walls and solar roof which will not only charge your car, but take care of your house’s electricity as well + backup for outages and etc. all for less than what this car is priced at

  2. “nears production” is code for “not near production” in most cases. But with $80M in their pocket, who knows? At $265k for a car with what looks like rubber bands for tires and that extreme sloping rear roof, I’m not sure how many rich european eccentrics would buy this.

    And of course, the Lightyear 2 is already in development. If you don’t follow the EV hype playbook, you’re going to look like amateurs, I guess.
