  1. Initially on sale in California only. I happened to see one of these on the road in Norco, CA a couple weekends ago when we were test driving. Looking at the specs, this screams “compliance car” or “BMW i3 ripoff,” (even though the rotary engine range-extended appeals to my engineering weirdo sensibilities).

  2. Hopefully Mazda can replace the range-extended rotary with a range-extended battery some day.

  3. While I’m all in on a full BEV future, I’m really interested in the Wankel range extender. My partner had an RX-8 and while it was really fun and an awesome engineering showcase, it also got 18 MPG and consumed oil, so I’m curious if they’ve made some significant efficiency breakthrough
