At this year’s Texas Truck Rodeo, Kristin and I harassed the folks at Ford about when we’ll see a new Ford Raptor. High off their win as the Truck of Texas, we figured we’d get some information out of them. With a grin, we received the official “we don’t comment on product plans.” But if you look at Raptor sales data, you’d know that it’d be crazy for Ford to not make a new version of the truck.
The folks at Road & Track are calling for the new Raptor to be unveiled in Detroit just over a month from now. This makes sense to what we’ve heard, and what we expect from Ford. The Mustang was announced at its own event last year to make way for the F-150 debut in Detroit. Ford used the LA Auto Show this year to show off the Shelby Mustang, so that opens the door for another truck announcement in Detroit.
There’s a possibility we’ll see other Ford performance vehicles in Detroit, including maybe a Shelby GT350R, a Focus RS, and more. But we know the Raptor is in the works, based on spy photography, so we’re expecting to see it there. It’d be right on schedule.
