  1. Whilst the company, like most start ups, was likely to fail without a *lot* of cash and luck, the headline is completely misleading:

    >Former Nikola employee Brendan Babiarz told the jury that a badger prototype used F-150 parts in its construction during early development.

I’d say pretty much every start up is using parts from existing production vehicles to flesh out a prototype they haven’t yet made. It’s probably the most reasonable and least surprising aspect of this whole thing.

Even companies that have been making cars for decades will use “mules” and prototypes that utilise parts of existing models to test and design a new model.

Whatever Nikola’s issues were, this isn’t one of them, nor is it symptomatic of one.

  2. How does the prototype “having some F-150 parts” make the entire truck an F-150 Raptor?

Is it just me or does this article seem completely misleading?

  3. The original Tesla Roadster rolling chassis was built by Lotus. I don’t think this is that unusual. for a start up. There are things to smack them on. I don’t think this is it.

  4. You could make the same article about the Cybertruck , just without the refund and the commenters in this thread would react completely different.
