  1. Barstow *and* Baker for the largest installs? For those outside of California, those are maybe 60-70 miles apart on the road from LA to Las Vegas.

I guess a lot of people are going to Vegas, but still, seems like Tesla could spread this around a bit. The 100+ charger installs are good publicity, but there’s still a lot of EV-unfriendly routes that need chargers, even in California.

  2. I disagree with the interpretation of the article. What was announced (must be in the funding agreement?), is that 50% of the *connectors* are CCS. A stall can have two connectors, once CCS, one Tesla. Every stall should have CCS.

  3. > One of those will have no less than 164 stalls, half of which have to be CCS compatible.

I can see tension rising when there are no CCS free and a bunch of Tesla charging there…

  4. CCS to Tesla adapter that automatically locks to Tesla plug or to the stall is ideal solution to this dual format problem. It reuses existing stall cable so no need for 2 cables per stall and is secure against theft. Just detect if Tesla or non-Tesla vehicle pulls up and automatically lock/unlock the set of interlocks so that when user pulls out the cable from the stall the adapter is correctly left securely locked to the plug or stays locked to the stall.

  5. Serious question: As they gobble up these federal funds, is there anything to stop Tesla from charging higher rates to non-Tesla owners?

Call me cynical, but I can’t believe Elon would just give away the competitive advantage he’s got going.

  6. Just a simple question here. I’ve had a model y for about 15 months. Tesla gave me an adapter for CCS and I’ve used it one time. Can’t regular CCS buy an adapter and use any Tesla supercharger? What I noticed using a CCS on my model Y was that charging was a lot slower. It was at a hotel to be fair.

  7. One of the locations is in Willows. Thunderhill is just west of Willows. I wonder if that makes track days feasible in a Tesla.

There’s already an Electrify America station there.

  8. >these would simply be regular Supercharger stalls with a CCS adapter tacked on the Tesla connector.

Does that mean that we’ll soon be able to buy an adapter that will allow CCS cars to use Tesla superchargers?
