We’ve finally seen the brand new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider, and there are a lot of questions we’d like answered. Unfortunately, many of those questions are ones that will only be answered behind the wheel. For the first time in basically forever, there are two different Mazda Miatas on sale. The question is, which one would you pick?
What?! Two Miatas?! That’s right. The Fiat 124 Spider is built alongside the Mazda MX-5 Miata and shares many of the components. They key differences between the two is the body work and the engine. The 2.0L in the Miata makes 155 horsepower, whereas the 1.4L turbo in the Fiat 124 Spider makes 160 horsepower.
That might not seem like a lot, but the Fiat is going to have a lot more torque. That little MultiAir engine that comes straight from the Fiat 500 Abarth makes 180 lb-ft of torque. We expect the car to be a riot!
But, I posed a question to my Twitter followers last week after the announcement. Now that you’ve seen both Miatas, which Miata would you choose?
That results are uncanny.
Miata Is Always The Answer, but WHICH Miata?

While not many of my over 20,000 Twitter followers participated in the impromptu poll, it should be noted that they were split exactly down the middle. Fifty-percent chose the Miata, while the other fifty-percent chose the Fiat 124 Spider.
If this is any indication of sales, we might have a very interesting fight on our hands come next summer!
